At the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islam has spread in most of the Arab apart from Iraq and Syria where two big powers were ruling.
In the East, there was the Great Empire of Persia which was also known as the Sassanid Empire, and in the west, there was a Byzantine Empire, in between them the new power was emerging in the form of Islam.
